The Short Bus...

Special Teams.

Special Teams has been the focus of training camp this year, after a very poor showing last season. The Pats were in the bottom half of AFC teams in kick return yards, punt return yards, kick return yards allowed and punt return yards allowed. As a result, Belichick/Pioli went out and added depth.

Returners Tim Dwight and Chad Morton are here to push Bethel Johnson. Rookie CB Ellis Hobbs has looked good returning Punts as well.

The Pats added LB Wesley Mallard as a special teams specialist, ala Don Davis and Larry Izzo. These guys along with the DB's who are fighting for a roster spot (Hobbs, Sanders, Reid) should improve the coverage team considerably.

Josh Miller and Adam Vinatieri are among the best in their respective fields and of course long snapper Lonnie Paxton is the best in the league.
