We have reached the NFL's annual 4 week hibernation period where nothing happens. Everyone is on vacation, getting in the final rest before the dawn of the 06-07 season. I'll try not to put you into hibernation too.
The Pats have signed their 7th round pick, CB Willie Andrews. Who? Supposedly the kid set records at Baylor for kick returns and punt returns, so maybe he'll have an impact this season. We all know that the Pats are in dire need of a return game, especially those of you that read this blog faithfully last season. Yawn.
I feel compelled to respond on behalf of fellow Pats fans to the NFL 'experts' that have picked the Miami Dolphins as their pre-season favorites to win the AFC East. The fins have become the fashonable pick and I cannot understand why. How did Daunte Culpepper go from 6TD and 12 INT's and tearing 3 ligaments in his knee to the savior at QB for Miami? Thomas and Taylor are another year older and slower. Can you name one starting defensive back in the Miami secondary? Has Ronnie Brown ever had to carry the load for a full season? (not even in college).
So I say SORRY 'experts' you are wrong. The Fins are only good for a MAXIMUM of 10 wins and that won't even be close to a Patriots team with an easy schedule and a MINIMUM of 12 wins.
Ty Law. Don't hold your breath. The Pats are 15 million under the cap. 5 mill to sign the rooks, 4 mill to sign Branch, 1 mill for midseason acquisition. That leaves 5 mill for Ty Law and unless no none in the league has 5.1 million for him he won't be here.
Why haven't the Pats cut fat load Johnathan Sullivan for his arrest? Could it mean that Belichick is actually considering a switch back to the 4-3 D that I've been screaming for for 2 years now? Unless a major roster addition is made, Monty Beisel is starting next to Brushi in the middle. Yikes!
That's all I've got, unless the Pats draft someone in the supplemental entry draft tomorrow.
MAN AM I JONES-ING FOR FOOTBALL!!!!
