Tell me what YOU think are the Pats biggest roster needs for 2006.
The Pats may be without every WR except Branch, so getting another #2 and #3 receiver should be #1 on the list. Givens, Davis, Brown, Dwight are all unrestricted and Bethel Johnson doesn't have a prayer of making the team.
They will probably look to add some veteran help at S and CB. I can't see them bringing Poole or Starks back and it may be 3 or 4 games before Rodney comes back.
A think an under-rated need is that of a return specialist. A guy to JUST return kicks and punts effectively.

ok, lets be honest, the Pats have never had a star wide reciver and may never need one. Deon Branch is supposed to be so great but allways seems to drop the big one and isnt worth double coverage. troy brown is a trusty ol' verteran who is a team player and a great accet. but lets get real, Tom Brady will trow the ball at anyone, and win. for all he cares you can line up mike vrabel wide and he'll trow to 'im for 100 yds and 2 scores! so WR's arent our biggest concern, defintely not brady's. now, looking at that list i see the definte must Adam Viniteri. thats a no brainer! also guys like Mike Cloud may be the first to go. but the really important guys are the o-line, Tom Ashworth, Stephen Neal. it really is true, the game is won and lost in the trenches. we saw plenty of that last year evident in a nonexistent running game and too much pressure on tom brady. lets invest in the big guys, where it really counts. brady proved last year he doesnt need big name recievers, tight ends, running backs. he just needs a little bit of time and a running GAME. so for my #1 roster concern... offensive line.
Mr. Anonymous needs a lesson football strategy and to stop approaching it from a bar stool hero perspective. We have a strong front seven, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to pick up a younger front man late in the draft. We have plenty of talent at tight end and as long as we can hang on to several of our receivers (esp. Givens) we'll be set there too. The secondary and the running game are the areas of most concern. Strengthen those through either sound draft picks and free agency acquisitions. The offensive line will be fine once the few injured players get healthy this offseason. The rookies played like seasoned veterans. Kudos to them. The defense played absolutely amazing in the final stretch, particularly the front seven. Fix those missing pieces and continue to be innovative on the coaching side and we got a recipe for another solid run at the championship.
