It's a Beautiful DAY!!!!!

This is it Pats fans, your dream come true! The CBA has been negotiated and the fiscally responsible New Englad Patriots are going to thrive! While terms of the deal are currently undisclosed, the popular belief is that the cap for 2006 will be about $104 million. As currently constituted, the Pats are at around $90 million.
It's gonna be a shopping spree! OK Adam, how much would you like to remain our kicker? OK Joe Jurevicious, come WIN a superbowl or two with us, we'll pay you market value. OK Baltimore, we'll take Chris McAllister off your hands to be our #1 'shutdown' cornerback. OK Julian Petersen, we'll rescue you from San Francisco, come win 4 or 5 superbowls with us as our new willie mcginest. OK willie mcginest we can still afford to keep you around as a great team leader, OK Troy Brown you can come back too. OK draft picks, we still have the cap space to get you all signed and in camp ON TIME as usual.

I know, it's a bit overboard, but you get the point don't you? Belichick and Pioli can basically have any player that's out there. How scary is THAT for the rest of the league? Place your bets now, the odds are 7-1 that the Pats win the superbowl. Seems like a sound investment to me.

I can hardly contain myself.

Well, I guess we couldn't afford Willie after all, eh? Or is this one of those brilliant moves by the Pats to re-work an expensive player's contract?

Willie Mac will be back, unless some idiot (parcels, crennel) throws a ton of money at him. He LOVES Belichick and the system, he is comfortable here where he is established as the unquestoned leader in the locker room. Besides that, if they win a couple more superbowls he might actually make the hall of fame.

I'm a bit more worried about Vinatieri though.

Why is everyone so worried about losing Vinatieri? Sure, he's been clutch in some very stressful situations and he's the top-scoring Patriot of all time (AFAIK), but he's still just a kicker who is less consistent than he used to be.

Besides, when has Belichick ever given us reason to question his personnel decisions? :)

I say let him walk if being the highest paid kicker in the league isn't enough for the little bitch.

Dallas is the prime example of why Vinatieri is important. They went
9-7 last season and missed the playoffs. They lost no fewer than 3, THREE games because the kicker missed kicks during those games. Put Vinatieri on that team and they are
12-4 with a first round bye in the playoffs. DOyou think that's worth a million dollars to ANY owner in the league? I do.

Willie Mac is gone, and the Packers have 30million left under the cap and no kicker. *The Pack picks up the phone*......RING RING.....RING RING..."Hey Adam, do you like cheese?"
