The 5-4 Buffalo Bills will host the Pats this weekend in a game that NBC has picked for their prime time, 8pm game. What were they thinking? Many feel this will be a blowout and NBC won't do so well in the ratings. NBC is betting that the Pats pursuit of a perfect season will draw a large audience. It also doesn't hurt that the Bills have won 4 in a row and are two field goals from being 7-2, with the additonal wins coming against Denver and Dallas. Maybe NBC knows what they're doing afterall. Did you see the battle the Bills gave Dallas on a Monday night in Buffalo? It was a great game. I'm not buying any of it though, this should be a blow out. The Bills top threat on an anemic offense, Marshawn Lynch, is probably not going to play.
The only thing that could make this game interesting would be revenge. Losman will be back in as the starting QB. You'll recall Wilfork's hit in the first meeting that got him a fine and knocked Losman out of the game. Losman has downplayed the story all seek saying that Wilfork probably didn't mean to hurt him and football is football. But Losman doesn't play defense. As a Pats fan you just have to hope that no one takes out his revenge on Brady. That's pretty much the storyline for this game.
Statistically this game should be a blowout. Here are the numbers:
Bills Pats
Total Offense 31st 1st
Rushing O 17th 7th
Passing O 28th 2nd
Pts/game 27th (15.9) 1st (39.4)
Total Defense 28th 4th
Rushing D 20th 7th
Passing D 28th 2nd
Pts allowed/game 9th 5th
My take is an easy win. The Pats will come out and make a statement with a couple of TD's right off the bat. Hopefully the Pats can try to establish their running game and try to get Maroney on track. I'd like to see him get the ball 20-25 times.
Patriots 41
Bills 10
